Collect Fallen Leaves

Remember to rake up leaves and place them in your curbside yardwaste container or your compost pile. Leaves left on the ground or piled in the street can clog street stormwater drains, causing flooding. Leaf debris also adds unwanted solids to our urban streams. After you have contained your leaves in a yardwaste container or compost bin, don’t forget to sweep up and discard the remaining dirt and debris so it doesn’t wash into the storm drains either. Collecting dirt with a broom and dustpan instead of hosing it off of sidewalks, driveways, and streets both saves water and keeps our urban streams healthy!

In the Solano County area, select your city on the Solano County Recycle Guide at www.recycle-guide.com for information on disposing of yard waste.
