Remember to flush only human waste and toilet paper down the toilet. Throw feminine hygiene products, personal wipes, tissues, cotton balls, cleanser sheets, disposable diapers, and paper towels in the garbage. NEVER flush medications down the toilet.
If you want a clean toilet bowl, it is more effective to clean it more often with gentle cleansers rather than using harsh cleaners less frequently. Also, avoid cleaners that contain antibacterial ingredients. Their benefits are only momentary, but their harm lasts much longer and they have unintended consequences. Antibiotics kill the microbes that wastewater treatment plants rely on to clean wastewater, so these products harm wastewater processing.
Fairfield-Suisun Sewer District and Delta Diablo Sanitation District encourage you to use small quantities of gentle cleaners, and flush only human waste and toilet paper down your toilet.
