Go Green For The New Year!

Go Green Audio Button 2

Why not try some new resolutions for 2009 that are easy to keep and help our environment at the same time?  Here are some simple ideas:

  1. Always pick up after your pets.  Pet waste pollutes our pathways, open spaces, and waterways.
  2. Don't allow fats, oils, and grease to wash down the drain because they clog our sewer lines.
  3. Use your car less. Choose transportation alternatives that reduce air and storm water pollution and use less fuel.
  4. Plan ahead for nature-friendly, drought tolerant gardening.  It's good for us, our pets, and our waterways.
  5. Reduce the use of your garbage disposal.  Compost or dispose of food waste instead. You'll reduce the amount of solids in wastewater and save water too.
  6. Pick up litter whenever you see it, even if it is not yours.  This choice keeps our communities attractive and prevents trash from entering our streams and bays.
  7. Choose gentle cleaning products and reduce the amount of lotions, shampoos, and detergents you use.  Small quantities of safe products mean fewer pollutants go down your drain.

Share your 2009 Green resolutions with family, friends, and neighbors.  Together we can make a difference!
